Shwe Shwe Khaing began singing light, popular songs when
she was six or seven years old. Around her eleventh year, she
began to understand the beauty of the Maha Gita, and has since
then, studied traditional Myanmar music and has been performing
the songs of the Maha Gita to perfection. Shwe Shwe Khaing
enjoys singing popular music as much as Myanmar's classical music.
Khing Zin Shwe has been singing since she was seven years old.
Encouraged by her parents to pursue music, she has over the years
gained deep knowledge of the intricacies of the classical songs of
the Maha Gita and is devoted to the traditional music of Myanmar.
Khing Zin Shwe continues her learning, pursuing the knowledge
and interpretation of classical music.
Shwe Shwe Khaing and Khing Zin Shwe have been performing
togetherfor many years. They also perform at monasteries, and at
weddings where traditionally songs from the Maha Gita are sung.
Through their performances of the Maha Gita, Shwe Shwe Khaing
and Khing Zin Shwe have committed themselves to nurturing their
ancient Myanmar classical music traditions.
